Library Resources include
These resources can be searched on the library website from pulldown menus on the left hand side and from tabs in a box below the main picture.  There are also a number of Research Guides ("LibGuides") available on the library website, including information on writing research papers.

Journals
The Library's Journal holdings can be viewed in an alphabetical list, searched by specific journal title, or browsed by subject type, which is chosen from a pull-down menu.   Some of the available journals are open access, but most will require you to be logged with your Emporia user name and password.

Databases
You can search databases from the tabbed box below the picture on the library's website. Many of the databases provide on-line access to journals and articles.  While some are open access, others will require an Emporia log-in.  The databases can be browsed alphabetically or by subject.

Library Catalog
Most of your research will probably be done using the Library Catalog, called the Kellogg Online Catalog.  You can search by keyword (which is the option that comes up by default), author, title, subject, periodical title, call number or ISBN.  You can also used the advanced search on the upper left side of the page.

If you know the title or author of a book, you can search more specifically.  If the Emporia Library does not have a book that you need, you can use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to see if it is available elsewhere (you will need your Emporia password to use this service).  You can find the link to ILL under the Library Services on the Library homepage.

Search results
Search results are returned in a numbered list.  The icon under the number tells you what the medium of the item is--whether it is a book, DVD, or journal, for example.

Clicking on an individual item in the results list gives you more information about that item, including the publisher, call number, its location in the Library, and whether it is "available" or checked out.

From the menu at the top of the search result page, use the icon with a shopping cart to save the item's information in a list form; this is helpful if you find many items because you can e-mail that list to yourself for future reference.  (You can also use the feature "Add to my lists" which requires an Emporia login.)
