A survey of the major movements in Avant-Garde Art from the late-19th century to World War II in Western Europe and the United States. We will examine how the art of this period – Painting, Sculpture, Collage, Photography, Architecture – engaged in the modern world through strategies as varied as Resistance, Subversion, and Open Embrace.
